Producer Blog: Online Support
Hi everyone,
You’ve probably heard that we’ve bumped up the release date for Grand Slam Tennis, which means it will be available to you in stores a full week earlier - it ships on June 8th. With just over a month until the game hits stores, we thought we’d take this opportunity to tell you a bit more about some of the cool features of Grand Slam Tennis.
A lot of people have asked if there is online support for this game. You most certainly can play singles and doubles online for 2-4 players on a maximum of two consoles (peer to peer).
One of the most appealing features of our online function is the Battle of the Nations leader board, where players constantly contribute to their nations score and ranking whenever they play online. So you can help your country show it is the top tennis nation in the world!
But our greatest technological innovation is how you’re playing online period. We use a state passing system that literally allows us to experience an almost offline experience when playing against someone from around the world. The system is designed to make latency almost unnoticeable in an experience where timing and experience is number one.
But above all, the online experience is about playing against someone you know nothing about and completely dominating them, much like a Roger Federer would experience in the first round at Wimbledon when half the time they’re playing against someone that nobody has heard about until the match is over.
As long as you have internet connection, it’s quite simple to launch the online feature. We’ve streamlined the experience so you can get online in less than a minute. The entire online flow and experience is built with the Wii consumer in mind, just like everything else about Grand Slam Tennis.
Hope you enjoy finding new opponents and challengers from around the world online in Grand Slam Tennis!
